The exhibition entitled 'Gandhi through Eyes of Egyptian Cartoonists' will be held from October 4-15, and is part of an extensive collaboration between the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), Embassy of India, and the Egyptian Caricature Society (ECS).
It presents a captivating selection of caricatures on Gandhi by prominent artists of the ECS, including Adham Lotfy, Emad Abdel Makksoud, Fawzi Mourssy, Mohamed Effat, Taha Hussien, Saad Al Saadawy, Khader Hassan, Omer Sadeek, Gehad Awartany and Khaled Al Merssafy, among others.
The artists used a variety of techniques - drawing in pencil, chalk, pen, ink, and even experimenting with conceptual photography - and demonstrate Gandhi's philosphy through their pictorial, thoughtful and at times satirical approaches.
