Priyanka Chopra’s Father Dr. Chopra Passes Away
Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's father Dr. Ashok Chopra, passed away on June 10, and was cremated on Monday evening (India Time) at Mumbai's Oshiwara crematorium.
Priyanka was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both physicians by profession. Dr. Chopra was in the army and thus his family moved quite frequently. He hailed from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly. Priyanka also has a brother, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than she is.
Back in 2005 when she was shooting for Rohan Sippy's 'Bluffmaster' her father was first diagnosed with cancer. Priyanka had not shared her agony with anyone on the sets even then.

Dr. Chopra was admitted at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and was said to be critical the past few days. "He passed away at 12.30 p.m. today (Monday). He was undergoing cancer treatment," hospital COO Ram Narain confirmed. He was surrounded by his family, including daughter Priyanka, wife Dr Madhu Chopra and son Siddharth, when he breathed his last at 12:30 pm on June 10.

In her recently released memoir "Unfinished", actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared that she was diagnosed with depression soon after her father died in 2013. She mentioned that the period lasted for five years until she made a conscious decision to move from "a world of grey back into a world of vibrant colour".
Following her father's death at 62, the actor used to work as it proved to be therapeutic for her putting her grief and "a piece of my soul" into the sports drama "Mary Kom", which released in 2014. She was all set to go back to work.
